I love the combinations of travel and art, hotels and art, cafes and art. Local San Francisco artist Margaret Timbrell just had her “gigantic 15 foot wide latch hook portrait of Minnie Pearl” installed just behind the front desk at The Graduate Hotel in Nashville. “It was a fevered marathon of hooking with a lot of help from my assistant – my mom – and patience from my 4-year old twins. In the end it took somewhere between 1000 and 1300 hours to complete”
Timbrell is a text based needlework artist. Her work is inspired by various influences – such as technology, parenthood, and social media – that alter language and inter-personal engagement.
She lives and works in San Francisco, California.
