Food For The Table: Gordito Amigos!

On my quest to travel around the planet as a vegetarian/vegan, I delight when I find one of my favorite lunch items on a vegan menu board. Not only one or two items on the menu, but a whole menu board dedicated to vegan taqueria food!

There is a bit of hesitation on my part to write about a really great taqueria that has a full vegan menu, where the quality of the food is taken seriously, and it’s quite affordable. It is nice to find a hidden gem in plain sight, where there is no line, and the service is quick, but I’d like this place to stick around for awhile, so if the line gets longer and there becomes a wait, it’ll still be worth it. Hopefully the students will find it when they get back into class this fall and fill it it up.

My first order was a Vegan Super Taco with Grilled Veggies (Green Pepper, Onion, Mushrooms and he threw in some Spinach). It came to me fresh and tasty and just under $5. The next day I went back and had a Vegan Quesadilla with Rice and Beans and that came in at $8.50. If I could afford to eat out every day, I might just go here a few times a week. It’s priced for the budget traveler and affordable for students.

It’s within walking distance, everything on South Campus/Telegraph is, from where I park The Escape Pod and is in the storefront that housed the Telegraph Ave. Gordo’s (similar name, no relation). I can’t vouch for the meat items, maybe if you can you can comment below.
