Northern California: Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta

October 19, 2017 By Kimberly Kradel

Taking the train from Emeryville to Stockton gave me the opportunity to view a bit of Northern California landscape that I haven’t had the opportunity to see before.

Water. Fields. Big Sky.

All passing by the train windows. Are these houses built on stilts? Are they floating, like houseboats? Or are they sinking? Do people live there? Not enough time in the passing by to tell.

But what I want to know, is, what goes on in this place? And if this place is here, so close to the public eye, albeit, down by the tracks, what really goes on in the delta?

We hear stories in the news, sometimes.

Learn more about the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta on Wikipedia.

Great photo from a moving train!

PS: your “like” button never shows up for me (it always shows up as “loading”). Just in case you’re missing the adoration ;)
