Haines Gallery is currently presenting Likenesses, a group exhibition bringing together works by seven contemporary artists from around the world to explore the conventions, possibilities, and limits of portraiture. Paintings by Mike Henderson, Taha Heydari and Aimé Mpane; photographs by Matt Lipps and Shirin Neshat; lightboxes by Kota Ezawa; and mixed-media pieces by Maurizio Anzeri examine the genre of portraiture and the ways in which it is often culturally, psychologically, and politically charged.
